A vibrant and busy village in the heart of Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire, an ideal location to explore local attractions such as Sherwood Forest with the famous Major Oak, Sherwood Pines with its excellent cycle routes and paths and Clumber Park and Rufford Park with their beautiful grounds to explore. The High Street is a two minute walk from the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre and bustles with a variety of individual and unique shops, where you can browse for that perfect souvenir or gift, as well as butchers, bakers, newsagent and a supermarket. Edwinstowe benefits from a wide range of services and activities that cover all interests and age groups. Such a diverse range of activities creates a community spirit as there is always something going on.

 

Calor Village of the Year 2008/2009

Edwinstowe has been nominated by Nottinghamshire as their representative in the Calor Village of the Year Competition. There is a considerable amount of work involved and a working group has been chosen including representatives from local residents, local businesses, Parish, District and County Councils.The first stage involves writing a report consisting of four categories; Community, Business, Sustainability and communications.

Regional judging will take place between Monday 23rd March and Friday 3rd April 2009 when the judges will visit Edwinstowe. The final round will take place between Monday 6th July and Friday 17th July 2009. The results will be announced at the 2008/2009 Calor Village of the Year Awards in December 2009. Christmas Lights Switch On Event
This year’s Christmas Lights Switch On will be on Thursday 4th December from 4.45 p.m. – 7.00 p.m. Local children from St Mary’s and King Edwin Primary Schools will sing carols accompanied by the Thoresby Youth Brass Band. There will be stalls along the High Street and street entertainers to help us get into the spirit of Christmas. This year the lights will be switched on by Rev Alistair Littlewood.
