| There has been a worshipping community here since the 7th Century. Today an active and growing church meets regularly for prayer and worship. | |
| The Domesday Book (1086) records 'In Edenstou… there is a church, a priest and four bordars.' In 1175 the wooden church was rebuilt in stone. | |
| St Mary's Church is full of unique and rare features, including a set of 6 bells ageing from 1662 to 1889. | |
| The Parish Map was started in 1992. The project took four years and involved many local people. In pride of place is Robin Hood who, according to legend, married Maid Marian in Edwinstowe Church. | |
| The impressive broach spire was added to the Norman Tower in 1400. It is 46 metres (140ft) high. The eight ornamental turrets date from about 1600. The spire has been struck by lightning three times. Around 1672 it collapsed causing considerable damage. The villagers petitioned King Charles II to be allowed to sell timber from the Royal Forest to raise money to repair the church. | |
