The Minutes of the Ordinary Meeting of the Council held Wednesday 17th December 2008 at 7.00 p.m. in the Village Hall, Edwinstowe

Present: Cllrs Ward, Benson, Woodhead and J Sansom

Welcome by the Acting Clerk
Due to ill health both the Chair and Vice Chair were absent from the meeting, nominations were made and it was decided unanimously Cllr Ward would table the meeting as Acting Chair.

08/132 MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES

1. Christmas 2008
All present were in agreement this year’s event was a huge success, excellent usage of an empty shop for Santa’s Grotto. The evening was trouble free and the atmosphere was magic. The feedback from all involved was very positive.

2. Litter Picking on River Maun Path
The Probation Service came on the 10th December 2008 to litter pick around Sherwood Fields and the footpath from Mansfield Road to the River Maun, Cllr J Sansom commented that the path and river have never looked so clean. Cllr Woodhead thanked David, Andrew and Gary for their continued hard work around the village it has never looked so good. Cllr J Sansom commented that new work wear is needed for the Amenity workers, on numerous occasions she has seen them very wet and cold due to the bad weather. Action – Clerk to investigate and research cost

3. Mansfield Road Car Park
N&SDC contacted the Parish Council to inform that 4 fixed penalty tickets had been issued overnight Friday/Saturday. The tickets were issued for ‘extended stay’

4. Edwinstowe News
Mike Hall (N&SDC Environment) attended the site on the 26th November and again on the 9th December to inspect the property. The windows are now broken enough to serve a notice on the owner to replace/board them up. A letter is sent in the first instance, the owner will be given 3 – 4 weeks to arrange for the work to be done. If the work is not done a formal Notice will be served requiring it.

08/134 PUBLIC PARTICIPATION/QUESTION TIME ----- (10 MINUTES)
Mr Harrison commented on the new safety signs on Mansfield Road, which will hopefully kerb speeding motorists. Cllr Woodhead would like further investigation to be done into the possibility of a deterrent or barrier being installed outside the Village Hall’s main gate to deter children from running into the road. Action – Clerk to investigate

Cllr Woodhead suggested on behalf of the Parish Council we send a congratulation letter to Edwinstowe Pre School Playgroup for winning the People Millions Lottery bid

Amended lease for Garden at rear of Village Hall to Edwinstowe Playgroup to be discussed at next meeting due to the absence of the Chair
Website statistics discussed all agreed what a fantastic facility
